Plastic Free Challenge

Do you realize how much single use plastic we use? Plastic bags from the grocery store are used for barely 20 minutes before being thrown away. But this plastic lasts for MUCH longer than 20 minutes.  In fact, it will still be in our atmosphere long past our lifetimes. 

Did you know that July is Plastic Free July?  At Environmental Emma, we want to celebrate this month with you! So, starting July 1st, take a picture of you using an alternative to single use plastic.  This could be using a reusable straw (or no straw at all), bringing your own utensils to a restaurant that uses plastic utensils, getting a reusable grocery bag, using haircare products from plastic free containers, etc.  Numerous household products, makeup, and personal care ideas can be found on my website.  

Environmental Emma Social Media Challenge: 

1. Choose a sustainable alternative to any plastic item (reusable bottle, bags, ziplocks, straws, makeup, hair products, etc).

2. Take a picture with that reusable item.

3. Post your picture on social media (Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram) with the hashtag #EEplasticfree. You can also tag us at @environmentalemma.usa for Instagram or @environemma for Twitter!  Don’t use social media? Email it to me at emma@environmentalemma.org and I will add it to the gallery below. 

4. Tag a couple friends on your post to encourage them to celebrate Plastic Free July with us on social media!

5. Change your habits for good. Going plastic free in July is a great place to start, but the goal should be to use as little plastic as possible every month of the year.
